Frequently asked questions

What is Henna Brows?

Henna brows are a natural alternative to traditional eyebrow coloring. Traditional eyebrow tints are primarily made of chemicals while most henna brow products are made of natural plant-based ingredients including Lewsonia Insermis aka – henna, a flowering plant commonly used to dye skin, hair and fingernails. With a henna brow product, you are getting a product that is made with 75% plant-based ingredients, contains no lead or ammonia, is vegan-friendly, and requires no chemicals or oxidants to activate, only warm water. This means it’s safer for clients AND for spa professionals. Plus, unlike traditional chemical-based tints that dry out or damage eyebrows, henna brows coats the hair locking in moisture keeping hair healthy and hydrated which often encourages hair growth. One of the other key benefits of henna brows compared to a traditional eyebrow tint is the fact henna brows not only dye the eyebrow but it is also a brow filler. The henna stains the skin beneath the brows for up to 2 weels with the tint lasting on the eyebrows for 6-8 weeks.

How long does the procedure take?

The relaxing Henna Brows will only take about 30 minutes. If shaping is incorporated into the treatment, should take roughly 50-55 minutes.

How often can you use henna on your brows?

Once a month is preferably the optimal time frame in between treatments. Henna is meant to fade with time, and that just means that your skin cells are renewing and your body is working properly! We realize that it's no fun walking around with faded eyebrows. But it's more important not to damage your hair follicles and over-dry your skin. Henna, just like other colourants, is still a dye, with chemical properties. It's important to wait for it to oxidize into your skin fully and allow your hairs to breathe a bit before going in again. Typically, with normal to somewhat oily skin types, the pigment can slightly wash out after 1 to 2 weeks. If you go in immediately after 1 week and ask to dye your brows again, it can actually be a bit harmful to the condition of the hair and skin. Over-processing is not advisable and can hinder the health of your natural brows. What you can do, is use a brow pencil or pomade to instead fill in those gaps slightly and wait another week or two to repeat the treatment.

How do I take care of my Henna Brows?

You should avoid water contact with their eyebrows/eye region for the next 48 hours after a treatment and they must try not to over-wash their face. When using makeup remover, it's essential to opt for an oil-free option. However, all skin types are constantly releasing natural oils as our skin cells breathe. This is a normal thing, thus the henna will fade out. As skin sheds, the henna does as well.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

  • Do not use heavy creams/oils/makeup on or around the brows the day of your appointment.

  • Do not apply Retin-A, AHA or exfoliate around the brow area for three days before the treatment

What conditions would not make me suitabile for the treatment?

There are always contraindications to henna. We don’t recommend doing Henna Brows when you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or undergoing IVF. Henna is also not the solution for people who like to have longer-lasting or permanent stains on the skin. The alternative would be choosing permanent eyebrow makeup or microblading since henna doesn’t stay on the skin for longer than 2 weeks. And of course, don't use henna if you are allergic or have sensitive skin.

How do you decide on the shape?

We use the golden ratio which will ensure the ultimate symmetry and shape. This is developed to conform to the “Phi” ratio and is calculated according to the morphology of the face and the golden mean, the number φ (1.618) and helps in mapping out facial contour by designing the shape that compliments all facial features. The Golden Ratio φ 1.618 also known as Phi is a proportion that appears in the patterns and proportions in every living form. Many key features of the human face can embody many golden ratios, leading to our perceptions of beauty.
